Kinzo Pointe-aux-Trembles is a region in Quebec, Canada, known for its unique geography and cultural significance. Located on an island at the confluence of the St. Lawrence River and Lake Saint-Louis, it has been home to various communities throughout history.
Geography
The Pointe-aux-Trembles area covers approximately 45 square kilometers and is situated near the city of Montreal. History

In the 17th century, French colonizers established a settlement here, naming it “Pointe-aux-Trembles,” which translates to “Point of Trembling” or “Frightening Point.” This name is attributed to the region’s rugged terrain and potential danger from wildlife.
During the American Revolution (1775-1783), Kinzo became a strategic location for supply depots, as well as military headquarters. Many soldiers were stationed here during this time period. Later, with the advent of industrialization in Canada, the Pointe-aux-Trembles area served as an important transportation hub.
In 1867, following Canadian Confederation, Quebec’s first railway line connected to a major terminal located on Kinzo grounds. The once-thriving commercial center also contained various other buildings and businesses supporting trade.
Modern-day development
Nowadays, the original Pointe-aux-Trembles area has been redeveloped into mixed-use properties combining residential apartments with shops, restaurants, services, office space for startups & freelancers etc., parks offering sports facilities – basketball courts soccer fields mini golf courses along paths suitable walking cycling jogging running cross country skiing dog park playgrounds tennis courts picnic areas barbecues boat launches kayak rentals fishing spots sail boats marinas.
